"Sirius" By the Alan Parsons Project

Welcome to the introduction to this blog! My name is Max McAllister and I am a sophomore at Ohio Northern University. My hometown resides in Nashville, Tennessee, which is only a short 7 hours away from here. I currently am involved with the Men's basketball team and hope to join a few clubs this year as well. I am excited to share my writing talents with you today as well as my daily experiences at this university. This previous week has been my first week back on the tundra. I arrived on Saturday, August 20 and spent most of the weekend unpacking and preparing for the first week of school. Once I was finished with my dorm, I had time to catch up with everyone about their summers. Although we have been away from this university for 3 months, it has only felt like it has been a week or two.

Speaking of summer, it is only right I have a summer recap to bring you up to speed in my life. This summer was mainly composed of working out, playing basketball, working at subway, and hanging with friends. I did pick up some side hobbies such as thrifting at the $.50 Goodwill Bins. Memories were made everyday regardless if I was working or had the day off. Although I love Nashville's summers, it feels good to have a change and be up in Ada for the fall!

I am excited to see what this semester brings. Basketball workouts have been starting up, academics are in full swing, and the Ada roads have never been busier. It is a great year to be a polar bear on this great campus!

The end has finally approached us and has become reality. It still feels like the first weeks of August to me where I first stepped into the classroom. I am so grateful for this semester at Ohio Northern University as I believe I learned the most I ever have before. I not only excelled academically but also learned so many important life lessons. This place will forever hold a very special place in my heart as it turned me into a whole different person since I graduated high school. I am excited to go back to Tennessee and reconnect with all of my old friends, but there will always be a missing feeling of not having my buddies there. Approaching the Final Stretch

After this weekend, the students of Ohio Northern will be approaching the final stretch until finals. We have approximately four weeks until Thanksgiving break. Once Thanksgiving break is over, we will only have two more weeks of schoolwork before finals. While this still seems like a lot of time, it has already been two weeks since our fall break. Personally, these past two weeks have gone by faster than usual and I feel these final weeks will only go by faster. Although we will still have to deal with projects and essays, I think it is important for students to remember we are only in college for a finite amount of time. We should try and make the most of these final weeks by whatever means we find necessary.  What are some fun events that will take place at Ohio Northern over the next few weeks? Cancelled Out

This week I was able to explore my ability to host a podcast show. The amount of creativity needed to create a quality podcast allowed me to respect the people who make a living out of them. They are not as easy as simply recording yourself and posting it, despite how much the public thinks it so. I enjoyed being able to call a connection of mine who I have known from Nashville, Tennessee. She has many years of experience with social media and devoted her college years to studying it. Her name is Rosalyn Wells and she was thrilled to be a part of this. The amount of prep that goes into the show before we even began is something I did not expect. I went into this project thinking there would be a small outline and then you would just talk for five minutes. I realized that if you were to create a quality product, then you need to spend as much time needed to get it right.
