Chapter 1 Recap
It always leaves me perplexed to see just how much social media has changed this world. It has not changed the world in a slow and gradual way, but rather in one of the most rampant of ways. From airlines needing 68 years to muster up a following of 50 million users to Pokemon Go only needing 19 days, the future is in social media. It is the most accessible tool in this world and is able to be used in an infinite number of ways. Social media is capable of being able to connect relatives and business partners across the globe in a matter of seconds. Social media use is projected to double from 2017's count of 2.73 billion users to a grand number of 5.85 billion users in 2027. The world will only grow and adapt to the everyday use of social media, pushing this tool into the category of necessities.
This tool can be used by companies to boost their products with the public. The creativity in brands in terms of how they use social media is a key factor why some stay afloat. For Doritos, their ad campaign, where contestants could submit videos in hopes of being featured in their super bowl commercial, helped gain important engagement to their brand. Several other brands have done similar campaigns and gained much needed support.
One crucial thing which will be important to watch is the gap between specific social media skills. For businesses to stay on top of their competitors, they need to find the best hires for their social media teams. Although much of the United States population spends a great bit of their day on social media, this still does not equate to having capabilities of running a business' social media. This leads to problems during the hiring process for companies looking to upgrade their social media game.
Social media is here to stay and will only continue to grow. From the average citizen to multi-billion dollar companies, everyone has started to find an important use in the tool. The next 5 years will be very interesting to see where social media heads.
I agree with what max has to say, I think that social media is here to stay and I think that it will continue to grow tremendously. In todays world everyone uses social media to connect and also businesses use it to grow product and also I think that social media can influence a group of people to buy into product and materials etc.
