Chapter 3 Recap

We are already onto chapter three of our online textbook and this chapter pertained to social media marketing strategies. Companies have seen the increased use of social media and have developed several different marketing strategies through the use of this tool. When companies first enter the social media world, there brand enters a world of endless possibilities. Their first post could damage their brand if they use this tool incorrectly. This is where the importance of having a marketing strategy is displayed.

Step one for companies is to identify their target market. Companies also need to grab key details over their target market to understand which social media platform is needed for each demographic. For some companies, such as SlimJim, they find more success promoting on TikTok as more adolescents are on this platform. Once companies find out their customer personas, they can move to step two.

Step two is important as it is conducting a social media audit. Similar to our personal brand audit from last chapter, companies must see what has been working for their existing accounts. They also need to find out where there name appears on different social media platforms.

Steps three and four pertain to establishing realistic goals and determining roles for employees to take on with the account. If the company sets unrealistic goals, then the social media team will struggle to find the resources to complete these goals.

Steps five and six begin the application phase where companies begin to create their accounts on different platforms. The team must figure out what tone their brand will take on as well as what platform will be utilized in this process.

Step seven, eight, and nine is all about optimizing the platforms that companies post on. To be successful companies must professionally create an account, produce a content strategy, and create times when to post. These attributes matched with consistently can lead companies to see great success on social media.

If you are an aspiring business owner or already are one, I recommend following these steps to optimize your business!
